Full job description

About Us

The Cannabis Clinic is New Zealand's leading medicinal cannabis clinic. Our patients often come to us after trying everything else. They're not just looking for a script, they're looking for someone who'll walk the path with them.

We combine clinical rigour with genuine compassion, and we're looking for a doctor who wants to practice medicine differently, from wherever you're based.

The Role - You must hold current MCNZ registration to apply.

This is a fully remote, telehealth role, consulting from the UK with New Zealand based patients. You'll conduct video consultations on a schedule that suits your timezone. No relocation, no in-person hours, just meaningful clinical work you can fit around your life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient consultations and assessments via telehealth
  • Prescribe, where appropriate, medicinal cannabis treatments based on clinical evidence
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on patient outcomes
  • Take part in peer review and ongoing professional development
  • Respond to patient and clinic communications in a timely manner
  • Contribute to a patient centred clinic culture

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Current MCNZ (Medical Council New Zealand) registration (vocational or non-vocational)
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
  • Interest in medicinal cannabis (experience preferred, comprehensive training provided)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient advocacy

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in pain management, palliative care, or chronic conditions
  • Previous work with alternative or complementary medicines
  • Prior telehealth experience

Why Join Us?

Medicinal cannabis still carries some stigma in the profession. That's why we've built this on clinical evidence, structured protocols, and strong peer support. You're never practising in isolation, even on the other side of the world.

  • Direct mentorship from experienced cannabis medicine specialists
  • Help shape treatment protocols as the field grows
  • Fully remote, flexible scheduling around your timezone
  • Competitive pay and a supportive team
  • Work that makes a genuine difference to patients who need it

Ideal Candidate

Someone familiar and with previous experience in the New Zealand healthcare system but looking to live in the UK or Europe. An interest in Medicinal Cannabis and curious about treatment beyond the conventional playbook and looking for a different way of practicing medicine and making a difference to patients’ lives.

Application Process

Send your CV and a short cover letter to careers@cannabisclinic.co.nz and tell us about your relevant clinical experience and how you approach patient centred care.

Start Date: As soon as possible

We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive team and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
