Job Overview

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Brain Injury Support Worker to join our team on a part-time basis. In this rewarding role, you will provide person-centred care and support to our Brain Injury client (13 y o) living with his family in Halifax, helping him develop greater independence, maintain his wellbeing, and improve his overall quality of life.

Our client does go to school, enjoys accessing the community, participating in activities, and spending time outdoors. Due to his individual support needs, we are looking for someone who has access to their own vehicle and holds business use car insurance.

Hours:

• Monday to Friday: Split shifts, providing morning support to help the client get ready for school and safely transport him to school. A second shift will be provided in the afternoon/evening to support him after school.
• Saturdays: 11-hour long - Day shift.

Pay:

£17.00 - £18.50 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personalised support with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, dressing, and meal preparation, while encouraging independence wherever possible.
• Support the client to participate in therapeutic activities, social opportunities, and community outings to develop confidence and maintain meaningful engagement.
• Observe and monitor the client’s wellbeing, identifying any changes in health, behaviour, or emotional state and reporting concerns appropriately to relevant healthcare professionals.
• Use appropriate behaviour-support strategies tailored to the client’s individual needs, particularly where behaviours may be associated with brain injury.
• Provide safe transportation to appointments, therapy sessions, community activities, and recreational outings when required.
• Maintain accurate and confidential care records, including daily notes, progress reports, and incident documentation, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the client, family members, healthcare professionals, and other members of the support team to ensure consistent and high-quality care.

Experience and Skills

• Previous experience in support work, assisted living, home care, nursing homes, or a similar care environment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and understanding of acquired brain injury and brain injury rehabilitation.
• Experience providing hands-on personal care and supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Understanding of behaviour management and experience supporting individuals who may present with challenging behaviours.
• First Aid training and knowledge of emergency response procedures are desirable.
• Experience transporting clients safely in a personal or organisational vehicle is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships with clients and their families.
• A caring, patient, respectful, and positive approach to supporting individuals.
• Ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support and supervision.
• Access to a reliable vehicle with business-use insurance is required due to the community-based nature of the role.
