Help Shape a New Neurodevelopmental Service in a Brand New Private Clinic

Alpha Vita is seeking an experienced and compassionate Neurodevelopmental Assessment Nurse to join our growing multidisciplinary team at our new private clinic in Edinburgh.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of a high-quality autism and ADHD assessment service, supporting adult, children, young people through their diagnostic journey. Working alongside psychiatrists, psychologists and other specialist clinicians, you will help deliver evidence-based assessments that provide patients and families with clarity, understanding and access to the support they need.

The Role

As a Neurodevelopmental Assessment Nurse, you will undertake comprehensive autism and ADHD assessments, gather developmental histories, participate in multidisciplinary diagnostic discussions and contribute to high-quality clinical reports and recommendations.

You will work closely with patients, families and carers throughout the assessment process, ensuring an outstanding patient experience from initial consultation through to diagnosis and follow-up support.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, you may also support ADHD medication monitoring and titration programmes, with opportunities for prescribing responsibilities if qualified as an Independent Prescriber.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive autism and ADHD assessments for children, adolescents and adults.
  • Obtain detailed developmental, educational, social, medical and mental health histories.
  • Carry out structured clinical interviews with patients, parents, carers and other relevant individuals.
  • Administer and utilise recognised assessment tools including ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
  • Gather and review information from schools, healthcare professionals, family members and other relevant sources.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic discussions and case formulation.
  • Prepare clear, accurate and professional clinical reports.
  • Communicate assessment outcomes sensitively and effectively.
  • Support ADHD medication monitoring and follow-up where appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance, record keeping and patient care.
  • Support the ongoing development and growth of Alpha Vita's neurodevelopmental services.

About You

We are looking for a nurse who is passionate about improving access to neurodevelopmental services and delivering person-centred care.

Essential

  • Current NMC registration.
  • Experience working with autistic individuals and/or people with ADHD across the lifespan.
  • Experience undertaking comprehensive autism and ADHD assessments.
  • Experience using recognised assessment tools such as ADOS-2 and ADI-R.
  • Strong understanding of autism, ADHD and associated neurodevelopmental and mental health presentations.
  • Knowledge of current NICE guidance relating to autism and ADHD.
  • Excellent assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
  • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, clinical governance and regulatory requirements.

Desirable

  • Independent Prescriber qualification (V300).
  • Experience supporting ADHD medication monitoring or titration.
  • Experience working within private healthcare services.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Improvement Scotland standards and private clinic regulation.
