About The Role
Are you an experienced EIA professional with a passion for delivering major infrastructure projects? Do you enjoy leading multidisciplinary teams while building trusted client relationships? Are you looking for an opportunity to use your expertise to shape the future of renewable energy and infrastructure development across Scotland and the wider UK & Ireland?
We're looking for a Principal EIA Consultant to join our growing Environmental Assessment & Consents (EAC) team. You'll lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments and wider consenting work for onshore renewable energy, transport and infrastructure projects, guiding projects from early feasibility through planning, consent and post-consent compliance. Working closely with clients, technical specialists and regulators, you'll manage project teams, oversee project delivery and provide strategic planning, consenting, and post-consent compliance advice that helps bring complex developments to life.
This is an opportunity to become a trusted adviser to major clients while helping shape the continued growth of our expanding EAC team. You'll lead increasingly complex projects, mentor consultants across the business and work alongside experienced Directors to influence future service development, strengthen client relationships and deliver innovative, high-quality environmental solutions.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Excellent report writing, communication, technical review and analytical skills, with significant experience in preparing fee and technical proposals.
- An undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or related discipline.
- Significant programme / project management experience of environmental projects with skills in managing delivery of challenging deadlines, budgets and relationships, preferably within the renewables (wind, solar, battery energy storage), transport and other infrastructure sectors.
- An established track record in the delivery of EIA-related work, including screening, scoping and end reporting, as well as post-consent compliance.
- An understanding of the Scottish policy and regulatory framework for impact assessment with experience of working within a variety of planning regimes in the UK & Ireland.
- Demonstrable stakeholder engagement expertise such as managing stakeholder meetings and input into supporting material relevant to impact assessments.
What helps you stand out:
- Experience of leading teams;
- Chartered member of a relevant professional organisation (or working towards such accreditation) such as ISEP (formerly IEMA);
- Good understanding of sustainability issues and consultancy skills in other complementary fields, such as Strategic Environmental Assessment;
You will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them. We match this with a commitment to continuous development and learning to support your career. We also offer benefits to look after you, from private medical insurance for all employees, access to mental health first aiders and comprehensive income protection if you cannot work. We also offer superb flexible working options, balancing work with your life.
