Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Direct support hours to be agreed in line with Access to Work support needs and the employee’s working pattern. Any remaining hours may be used for delegated duties.
Landmarks is an independent specialist day college for young people with learning disabilities and difficulties. The college offers a wide range of programmes that are tailored to each individual’s needs.
Landmarks operates from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Eckington, S21 4EF.

Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites, including; college campuses, employer’s premises or communities local to your learners home - therefore willingness to travel is essential. There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car, insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day.
Purpose of role:
The Workplace Support Worker will provide practical, physical and administrative support to enable the employee to carry out his role safely and effectively following a stroke. The support is intended to remove disability related barriers at work. The support worker will not replace the employee’s role, make decisions on his behalf or take responsibility for his professional duties.
Main Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to:
Physical support
· Support the employee to move safely around the workplace, including between rooms, offices, meetings, entrances, toilets and work areas.
· Provide steadying support where required due to reduced mobility, poor balance and risk of falls.
· Support safe access to meetings, workspaces and other college areas.
· Assist with practical tasks that require two hands, such as carrying a laptop, documents, files or equipment.
· Help set up the employee’s workstation, including screen, keyboard, mouse, headset and any assistive technology.
· Support safe movement between college sites where this is required as part of the working day.
Note taking and administrative support
· Take notes during meetings, phone calls and discussions with learners, families, staff and external professionals.
· Record key points, agreed actions, decisions and follow up tasks clearly and accurately.
· Support the employee to capture information where writing or typing is difficult due to loss of use of the dominant right arm and hand.
· Assist with preparing meeting notes, call notes and brief summaries for the employee to review.
· Support accurate record keeping by entering information as directed by the employee.
Communication and assistive technology support
· Support the employee during telephone calls, online meetings and face to face meetings by helping to record information.
· Assist with using speech to text software, headset and other agreed assistive technology.
· Help the employee manage documents, emails and systems where practical support is needed.
Additional duties and wider deployment
· To create a full time role of 37.5 hours per week, the support worker may undertake additional appropriate duties when the employee is absent or does not require direct support.
· These additional duties may be delegated by the employee or by a senior leader and should reflect the needs of the College, the skills of the support worker and any agreed boundaries for the role.
· Additional duties may include general administration, preparing documents, arranging meetings, updating agreed records, supporting communications and helping with wider learner, family or team administration.
· When undertaking additional duties, the support worker must continue to follow all safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and professional conduct requirements.
· The support worker’s primary purpose remains to provide workplace support to remove disability related barriers for the employee when he is at work.
Professional boundaries
· The support worker will not make casework decisions, give professional advice or act as the employee’s representative.
· When providing direct support, the support worker will not take over the employee’s responsibilities or make decisions on his behalf.
· The support worker will work under the direction of the employee and, where required, his line manager or another senior leader.
· The support worker will maintain confidentiality at all times and follow Landmarks Specialist College policies and procedures.
Safeguarding and confidentiality
· Understand the importance of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
· Maintain strict confidentiality when handling learner, family, staff and organisational information.
· Follow all relevant college policies, including safeguarding, data protection, health and safety and professional conduct.
