Join Medacs Healthcare as a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor

Are you a UK‑registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD) or HCPC‑registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist looking for a non‑clinical role with structure, stability and predictable working hours?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you’ll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how long‑term health conditions affect daily living. This is a non‑hands‑on clinical role focused on clinical reasoning, analysis and detailed report writing, rather than treatment or ongoing patient care.

Once training is complete, the role is fully remote, offering a strong work–life balance while allowing you to continue using your clinical expertise in a meaningful way.

Please note: Whilst this role is remote, you will be required to attend your nearest assessment centre during induction and training stages 3-4.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct telephone and video PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Review clinical records and medical evidence
  • Produce clear, accurate and evidence‑based written reports
  • Work to defined quality standards and clinical frameworks
  • Work independently while collaborating with colleagues across clinical and administrative teams
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development activities
  • Attend the assessment centre as required

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
  • Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
  • Minimum 1 year’s UK clinical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
  • Recent clinical experience across a variety of settings
  • Ability to multi-task and make objective, evidence-based decisions

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in functional assessment or clinical decision-making
  • Skilled in producing accurate, concise reports

What’s on offer

  • Competitive salary with structured reviews and bonus potential
  • Remote working after training
  • £1000 Approval bonus (terms apply)
  • Structured hours – no evenings, weekends or bank holidays
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus your birthday off
  • NMC/HCPC fee reimbursement after probation
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing clinical support
  • Clear progression routes and CPD opportunities
  • Pension, life assurance, EAP and lifestyle benefits
  • £2,500 referral bonus (terms apply)

You’ll enjoy this role if you…

  • Prefer structured assessments and clear clinical frameworks
  • Feel confident using computers and learning new clinical systems
  • Enjoy writing detailed, high‑quality reports
  • Value routine, consistency and a balanced working pattern
  • Are open to constructive feedback and keen to learn and develop

This role might not be right for you if you…

  • Are looking to stay in hands‑on clinical care or fast‑paced, acute environments
  • Prefer minimal structure rather than clearly defined processes
  • Don’t enjoy detailed report writing or written clinical work
  • Would find working mainly with digital systems frustrating
  • Would be uncomfortable with re‑training for a different type of clinical role, which includes a comprehensive, supported training programme
  • Would feel uncomfortable working in a role with targets and quality measures

Why join Medacs Healthcare?

At Medacs Healthcare, you’ll be supported by experienced clinical leaders, benefit from structured training and have the opportunity to build a long‑term career in a well‑established, supportive remote working environment.
