Post: Clinical Research Nurse

Employer: Ormeau Clinical Trials Ltd

Starting Salary: £40,000 (negotiable based on experience)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week). Part-time opportunities are available.

The Opportunity:

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an enthusiastic team of Clinical Research Nurses. The clinical team manage a variety of simple and complex national and global clinical trials. The successful candidates will have professional responsibility to coordinate specific research studies providing care and study related treatment to all participants. The post holder is also expected to act as an associate nurse for other trials within the unit under guidance from the Principal Investigator (PI).

On a normal day, you will:

  • Utilise your skills, knowledge, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgement in order to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials and respond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards.
  • Utilise your nursing assessment skills to observe participant general well-being and potential adverse events.
  • Document adverse events and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Educate, explain and inform participants of study procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and collect detailed medical histories in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the study protocol.
  • Administer investigational product to participants according to the protocol and applicable regulations.
  • Perform study related activities such as vital signs, ECGs, venepuncture, spirometry etc.
  • Collect and process biological samples according to the study protocol and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Record data obtained in a timely, error free manner according to the protocol and SOP, transcribing source data onto the Case Report Form (CRF).

Additional Responsibilities (Including But Not Limited):

  • Facilitate Clinical Research Associates (CRA) during monitoring meetings.
  • Assist in facilitating closeout visits as needed for trial completion.
  • Develop protocol-specific study data sheets to ensure consistent procedures and data collection.
  • Monitor and replenish trial study supplies based on study requirements.
  • Safely maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and specimens.

Your Qualifications/Skills:

  • First level registered nurse with at least 3 years of post registration experience, research experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook and confident working with database systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Previous Clinical Research Nurse experience is ideal, but not a must. We are open to consider recent graduates.
