About the role
Protecting the health and fitness for work of a complex workforce
Triton Risk Management is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to join our expanding Health and Medical Services Team, supporting a world-scale major infrastructure project.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting the health, wellbeing and fitness for work of a large, multidisciplinary workforce operating within a complex and high hazard environment.
Working alongside our established Emergency Response Team, you will deliver proactive occupational health services, provide clinical assessment and treatment, promote workforce wellbeing and contribute to the continuous improvement of health outcomes across the project. The role combines occupational health practice with emergency medical support, health promotion and strategic workforce wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
Occupational health
- Undertake occupational health assessments and provide evidence-based clinical advice.
- Conduct fitness for work assessments and provide recommendations to management.
- Support return-to-work programmes following illness or injury.
- Manage occupational health referrals and liaise with specialist providers where appropriate.
- Maintain confidential occupational health records in line with professional standards and GDPR.
Clinical care
- Assess and treat minor injuries and illnesses presenting on site.
- Provide clinical advice and appropriate referral to external healthcare providers where required.
- Deliver first-line clinical interventions within professional scope of practice.
- Support ongoing health monitoring of personnel.
Workforce wellbeing
- Develop and deliver health promotion initiatives.
- Promote healthy lifestyles through education and engagement.
- Deliver campaigns covering physical health, mental wellbeing, hydration, nutrition, fatigue management and musculoskeletal health.
- Support wellbeing initiatives aligned with the project's Occupational Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
Health screening
- Undertake routine health screening and wellbeing assessments.
- Deliver health surveillance activities where applicable.
- Provide confidential health advice and signposting to appropriate services.
Fatigue management
- Support fatigue risk management programmes.
- Provide health-related advice for employees affected by fatigue.
- Assist with health-related case management and return-to-work planning.
Drug and alcohol testing
- Conduct pre-induction, random, for-cause and post-incident testing.
- Maintain robust chain-of-custody procedures and accurate documentation.
Emergency medical support
- Provide clinical support to Triton's Emergency Response Team during medical incidents.
- Assist in casualty assessment, stabilisation and ongoing care.
- Liaise with NHS Ambulance Services and other emergency responders when required.
- Participate in emergency exercises and major incident preparedness.
Reporting and continuous improvement
- Produce anonymised health and wellbeing trend reports.
- Identify emerging occupational health risks.
- Contribute to continual improvement initiatives.
- Participate in project health meetings and multidisciplinary reviews.
Essential qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Degree or diploma in nursing.
- Demonstrable occupational health experience.
- Current UK driving licence.
Desirable qualifications
- Occupational health qualification (diploma or degree).
- Independent Nurse Prescriber (V300).
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Spirometry competency.
- Audiometry competency.
- HAVS health surveillance competency.
- Drug and alcohol collection officer qualification.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities or energy sectors.
Essential experience
- Occupational health nursing.
