PCV Driver Apprentice - no bus driving experience? no problem!

If you're looking for a rewarding career change, our fully-funded Bus Driver Apprenticeship Programme will give you everything you need to become a professional bus driver.

Your training is completely free and includes classroom learning, online development and practical on-road instruction. The programme typically takes between 8 and 10 months to complete.

What you'll be doing

As a PCV Driver Apprentice, you'll learn how to:

  • Safely operate buses on local routes
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to our passengers
  • Conduct vehicle safety and first-use checks
  • Assist customers with their travel needs
  • Provide route and service information
  • Ensure passengers board and leave the vehicle safely
  • Represent Team Pennine and Transdev professionally within the community

What we're looking for

To join our Apprenticeship programme, you'll need:

  • A full Category B (car) driving licence
  • To be aged 18 or over
  • The right to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • The ability to pass a D2/D4 medical examination
  • The ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • A maximum of 6 penalty points on your driving licence
  • Have no drink/drug driving convictions, TT99 or mobile phone convictions
  • A positive attitude and commitment to customer service
  • Excellent people skills and a desire to work with the public
