Overview

St Edmund’s is seeking a compassionate, organised and clinically skilled School Nurse to join our Medical Centre team and help support the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

You will provide day-to-day nursing care for pupils with routine illnesses, minor injuries and ongoing health needs, offering professional care and reassurance when they need it most. Working closely with pastoral colleagues, teaching staff and parents, you will help deliver a responsive healthcare service and contribute to a safe, supportive school environment.

We are looking for a caring and approachable professional with sound clinical judgement, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities calmly and effectively. A commitment to high standards of care and a sensitive, pupil-centred approach will be central to your work.

Duties

  • Assess and respond to students’ health needs promptly and effectively, providing first aid and emergency care when necessary
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for students with chronic health conditions or special needs
  • Maintain accurate health records, including immunizations, medication administration, and incident reports
  • Educate students and staff on health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a safe and healthy school environment
  • Communicate clearly with parents and guardians regarding student health concerns and treatment plans
  • Lead health screenings and coordinate referrals to healthcare providers as needed

Skills

  • Strong leadership qualities to advocate for student health and coordinate care efforts
  • Proven nursing skills with experience in pediatric or school nursing settings
  • Ability to develop detailed care plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, staff, and healthcare professionals
  • Exceptional time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a busy school setting

Pay: From £20.49 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 per week
