Full job description

Join an Outstanding Ofsted-Rated Children's Home!

We are an independent residential children’s home in East Sussex looking after children with learning difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Our mission is to create a safe, loving, and structured home where children can experience the joys of childhood while learning the skills they need to thrive. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to provide the consistent care, guidance, and boundaries that our children need to feel secure and flourish.

Who This Role Is For

The most important qualification for this role isn't experience, it's character.

We're looking for emotionally resilient, patient and dependable adults who can build positive relationships with children while providing the consistency and structure they need to feel safe.

You'll be someone who can stay calm during challenging moments, celebrate the small victories and understand that progress often comes from trust, routine and perseverance. You'll be caring, approachable and able to set clear boundaries in a firm, fair, and supportive way.

Whether you're experienced in children's care or looking for a meaningful new role, if you're committed to making a positive difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Benefits for Children’s Support Worker

  • Excellent hourly rate starting at £13.10 weekdays and £14.56 weekends.
  • £60 per sleep-in
  • 28 days holiday + extra paid day off on your birthday (plus long service rewards)
  • Free meals on every shift
  • Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 GP, counselling, gym discounts)
  • Free in-house training and career development
  • Company pension scheme
  • Blue Light Card

Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)

  • Ensuring the children feel safe, secure, and cared for at all times
  • Creating a stable, structured, and homely environment
  • Acting as a positive role model, offering guidance similar to a parental figure
  • Supporting children with routines, boundaries, and expectations
  • Managing challenging behaviour with calmness, consistency, and resilience
  • Taking children on activities and creating positive experiences
  • Teaching essential life and social skills
  • Supporting and promoting healthy relationships with family and others
  • Completing sleep-in shifts (approx. 7 per month)

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • A resilient, calm, and consistent approach
  • Ability to set and maintain clear boundaries
  • A caring but firm and fair attitude
  • Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays
  • Commitment to learning and professional development
  • Live within a 40-minute drive of Mayfield
  • Full UK driving licence (held for at least 1 year)
  • Right to work in the UK

No Experience? No Problem!

You don’t need qualifications or prior experience — we are looking for the right personal qualities. If you are reliable, emotionally strong, and motivated to make a lasting difference, we will provide the training and support you need.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you’re looking for a rewarding role where you can truly impact young lives while building your own career, we’d love to hear from you.
