Pastoral, Welfare & Engagement Officer

Location: Croydon
Salary: Up to £27,500 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full Time | Monday to Friday | 35 Hours per Week | 52 Weeks Per Year

Be The Difference That Changes A Young Person's Future.

At LLC/DV8, we believe education is about far more than qualifications. It's about giving every young person the confidence, support and opportunity to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Every learner arrives with a different story. Some simply need encouragement. Others are facing significant barriers to education, whether that's poor attendance, anxiety, additional learning needs, challenging personal circumstances or a lack of confidence.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for an exceptional Pastoral, Welfare & Engagement Officer to become one of the most important people in our learners' educational journey. You'll be the person who notices when something isn't quite right, builds trusted relationships, removes barriers to learning and helps young people rediscover their confidence, motivation and ambition.

If you're passionate about supporting young people, thrive on building meaningful relationships and believe every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

About LLC/DV8

London Learning Consortium (LLC) and DV8 Training deliver creative, inclusive and industry-focused education programmes that prepare young people and adults for successful futures.

We pride ourselves on creating supportive learning environments where individuality is celebrated, wellbeing is prioritised and every learner is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

As our provision continues to grow, we're looking for passionate professionals who share our values and want to make a genuine difference every single day.

The Opportunity

This isn't a desk-based administration role.

It's a role where you'll spend your time getting to know learners, listening to their experiences, identifying what's preventing them from succeeding and putting the right support in place to help them move forward.

Working closely with teaching staff, Learning Support Assistants, safeguarding leads, parents and external agencies, you'll become a central part of each learner's support network.

No two days will ever be the same, and that's exactly what makes this role so rewarding.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Pastoral, Welfare & Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners through regular one-to-one pastoral support.
  • Identify barriers to learning and develop practical support plans that help students achieve their goals.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality and learner engagement, introducing early intervention strategies where required.
  • Support learners with SEND, SEMH and additional needs, working alongside curriculum teams to ensure appropriate support is in place.
  • Promote positive behaviour through restorative approaches, behaviour support plans and consistent pastoral guidance.
  • Work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure learners remain safe, supported and protected at all times.
  • Liaise confidently with parents, carers and external agencies to coordinate effective learner support.
  • Maintain accurate pastoral, safeguarding and welfare records using college systems.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities, learner events and progression planning that enhance the overall student experience.

Who We're Looking For

We're not simply looking for someone with experience.

We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping young people succeed.

You'll be approachable, resilient and naturally able to build trust with learners from a wide range of backgrounds. You'll understand that every behaviour communicates a need, and you'll have the confidence to challenge positively while maintaining professional boundaries.

Ideally, you'll already have experience supporting young people aged 16–19 within education, youth work, pastoral care or a similar environment, together with a strong understanding of safeguarding, SEND and learner wellbeing.

You'll also be highly organised, confident using IT systems and able to manage multiple priorities while remaining calm under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent) (essential)
  • Mental Health First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Safeguarding training (Level 2 or above)
  • Training or qualifications relating to SEND, SEMH or behaviour support
  • Youth Work, Education, Health & Social Care, Counselling or a related qualification
  • Understanding of EHCPs and Annual Review processes

Why Join LLC/DV8?

When you join us, you'll become part of an organisation that genuinely invests in both its learners and its staff.

We offer:

  • A competitive salary.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement plus Bank Holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Eye care vouchers and annual flu vaccination.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Opportunities to progress your career within a growing organisation.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people every single day.

Safeguarding

LLC/DV8 is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo all safer recruitment checks, including satisfactory references, an Enhanced DBS check and online screening in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and communities.

If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know and we'll be happy to support you.
