Full job description

Out-Space C.I.C. provides safeguarding-led alternative provision for young people across West, Mid and East Suffolk. We use one-to-one fishing, outdoor activities, fitness and practical experiences to improve wellbeing, engagement, confidence and readiness for adulthood.

The role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable mentor to plan and deliver safe, engaging, person-centred sessions for young people. Activities may include therapeutic fishing at Hardwick Heath Pond and other suitable outdoor, physical or practical activities.

Applicants should have experience supporting young people and be able to maintain clear professional boundaries, accurate records and high safeguarding standards.

Essential requirements

  • An existing Enhanced DBS certificate for the children’s workforce, preferably registered with the DBS Update Service
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Ability to work safely and independently
  • Reliable transport and availability to travel across Suffolk

A current Level 2 Safeguarding Children qualification is strongly preferred. Applicants without this qualification must be willing to complete the required training before delivering sessions independently.

The successful applicant will also complete Out-Space induction and any training relevant to the participants, activities and venues they support.
