Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a tube assembly polisher with experience of working with metal pipes, including forming and fettling a range of metallic materials and components. The role involves preparing and finishing tube assemblies to achieve the high standard of surface finish and accuracy required by customer specifications. You will use your practical skills and attention to detail to produce consistent, high-quality components, checking your work against the relevant engineering drawings and requirements. Other operations include benching, ultrasonic cleaning, and manual and automatic tube cutting and preparation, supporting the preparation and finishing of components throughout the manufacturing process.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good manual dexterity and the ability to use hand tools with control and precision when preparing, fettling and polishing metallic components.
• Basic computer literacy, with the ability to access and enter information accurately when using computer-based systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English, enabling you to understand work instructions, share information clearly and raise queries about component requirements.
• Basic mathematical abilities, including an understanding of dimensions and tolerances, to support accurate component preparation and working within tight specified limits.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and blueprints to understand component dimensions, preparation requirements and the required finished condition.
• Strong attention to detail, with a careful and consistent approach to checking surface finish and identifying imperfections that could affect the quality of the finished component.

Desirable

• Experience within aerospace manufacturing.
• Experience using polishing, deburring or fettling equipment on metal tubes or components, including selecting suitable abrasives to achieve the required surface finish.
• Familiarity with working with stainless steel, titanium or nickel alloys, including an appreciation of how different materials affect polishing and finishing requirements.
• Previous involvement in ultrasonic cleaning or tube cutting and preparation, with an understanding of component cleanliness and careful handling to prevent damage or contamination.
• Experience completing manufacturing route cards or inspection records, with an appreciation of accurate production documentation and component traceability.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or other Continuous Improvement accreditation.

Working hours:
Monday - Thursday: 6:45am - 3pm

Friday 6:45am - 2pm

Pay: £13.92 per hour

Expected hours: 39.0 per week
