Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Postnatal Midwife to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide specialised care to mothers and their newborns during the postnatal period, ensuring both physical recovery and emotional well-being. The specialised care will be delivered through home-visits, where you the midwife will visit the mother in her home
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive postnatal care to mothers and baby, including monitoring recovery and addressing any complications
- Provide education and support on newborn care, breastfeeding, and maternal health needs
- Conduct assessments of physical and emotional well-being, referring to specialised services when necessary
- Offer emotional support and counselling to new mothers adjusting to parenthood
- Educate families about postnatal health practices, recognising signs that require medical attention
Skills
- Registered Midwife with at lest 7 years experience in the NHS. We also welcome dual midwife/nursing experience.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Strong organisational abilities with effective time management to prioritise patient needs
- Compassionate approach with the ability to provide emotional support during sensitive times
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional independence
