Job Description:

Bakery Assistant Required, 4 days per week (including Sundays). 7am - 4pm.

3 month contract - possibility to extend or go to permanent.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of our bakery within the cakes team, assisting in the preparation and production of a variety of baked goods. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for culinary arts and a keen interest in food preparation and safety. You will play an essential part in ensuring that our bakery maintains high standards of quality and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for baking, including measuring, mixing, and cake and biscuit mixtures.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and other baking tools.
• Follow recipes accurately to produce a variety of baked goods such as pastries, and cakes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies and report any shortages to management.
• Assist in decorating cakes and pastries as required.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food production processes.

Skills

• Strong understanding of culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
• Knowledge of food safety practices to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Experience in a kitchen or bakery setting is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of food production.
• Basic knowledge of baking processes and ingredients is preferred.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
