Full job description

For October 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

Queen Victoria School (QVS) is a co-educational Boarding School funded by the Ministry of Defence to provide stable and uninterrupted education and boarding to some 270 children of Service personnel, from ages 10 to 18. The school is set in 45 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside.

We are seeking an exceptional, resident Housemaster/mistress to lead our Junior Girls’ boarding house (P7-S2) with warmth, integrity and ambition. Our boarding houses are at the heart of school life, and this live-in position plays a vital role in shaping confident, caring and resilient young people. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate pastoral leader, who thrives in a busy boarding environment and believes wholeheartedly in the importance of relationships, community and wellbeing. The successful candidate will inspire both pupils and staff, lead a dedicated house team and work closely with parents to create a nurturing, happy and positive boarding experience where every girl is known, supported and encouraged to thrive. Applicants must be registered with the GTCS, as there is a commitment to teach a reduced timetable as part of the substantive post. In addition, the successful candidate must hold a valid Disclosure Scotland Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG), prior to taking up the post.

The salary is based on SNCT Pay Scales. In addition, a QVS Boarding School Allowance is payable to reflect boarding responsibilities. Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay-related allowances.
