Full job description

Photo Booth Operator

Pay: £14 per hour, increasing to £15 per hour once fully trained and signed off

Job type: Part-time, zero-hours

Schedule: Mainly Friday and Saturday evenings, with some midweek and Sunday events

About the role

London Event DJs is looking for a friendly, confident and dependable person to host our Photobooth and Magic Mirror experiences at weddings, parties and events.

You will represent London Event DJs at the venue, welcome guests, help them use the equipment and make sure the experience operates smoothly throughout the event. The role also includes assisting with setup and packing the equipment away safely at the end of the night.

Most work takes place at venues around Crawley, East Grinstead and Mid Sussex, with venue journeys of up to approximately 30 minutes each way from Crawley.

Previous photobooth experience is not required. We provide paid training on the equipment, software and the standard of service we expect.

Main responsibilities

  • Assisting with the setup and testing of the Photobooth or Magic Mirror.
  • Welcoming guests and explaining how the experience works.
  • Encouraging guests to participate in a friendly and professional way.
  • Managing queues and keeping the booth area tidy and presentable.
  • Looking after props, prints, guestbooks and event equipment.
  • Using straightforward computer, camera and printer software.
  • Carrying out basic troubleshooting, with support available when required.
  • Communicating with the venue team and event organiser when necessary.
  • Packing equipment away carefully at the end of the event.
  • Reporting faults, damage or missing items promptly.

Working hours

Most shifts take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, with some Sunday and midweek work. A typical shift may start around 5pm or 6pm and finish between midnight and 1am.

Hours vary according to our event schedule, so applicants must be comfortable with variable part-time work rather than guaranteed weekly hours.

What we are looking for

  • Reliable personal transport to reach Crawley or an event venue when public transport may not be running.
  • Living within practical travelling distance of Crawley.
  • Regular Friday and Saturday evening availability.
  • A friendly, approachable and confident manner with guests of all ages.
  • Excellent punctuality and reliability.
  • Basic computer confidence, or a genuine willingness to learn.
  • The ability to remain calm and follow troubleshooting instructions.
  • A smart and professional appearance when representing London Event DJs.
  • The ability to carry and position photobooth equipment safely.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a two-person team and, once fully trained, sometimes host and operate an event independently.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Availability for shifts that routinely finish after midnight.

A driving licence is helpful but is not essential for the host position. Applicants with a full UK licence can also train for our Event Setup Crew & Van Driver role.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered during recruitment and employment.

Pay and progression

The starting rate is £14 per hour. This increases to £15 per hour once you have completed training and have been signed off as able to set up, operate, troubleshoot and pack away the Photobooth and Magic Mirror without continuous supervision.

All required training and working time is paid.

What we provide

  • Paid training and shadow shifts.
  • London Event DJs uniform.
  • All equipment needed for the role.
  • Support while learning the booth and mirror systems.
  • Opportunities to cross-train in dancefloor and event-equipment installation.
  • Progression into company-van driving and wider event-operations work for suitable applicants.

Please apply with a CV and include your location, normal Friday, Saturday and midweek-evening availability, whether you can reliably reach Crawley and surrounding venues, your level of computer confidence, and any relevant customer-service or events experience.

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Work Location: On the road
