An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first class services to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. Anyone previously security cleared are particularly welcome to apply.
Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time, versatile, and enthusiastic Security Escort, responsible for chaperoning visitors at Defence Science and Technology Laboratory Porton Down site, Porton Down Wiltshire. The successful candidate will fulfil a broad range of tasks to facilitate day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will have the professional capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business. Training will be given where required.

Main Responsibilities

Chaperone visitors, to ensure the security of the site is not compromised, and to ensure visitors are led to the planned destination in an efficient, professional, and welcoming manner.
Liaise with Reception colleagues, security teams and hosts.
Drive escort vehicles, and ensure they are maintained, clean and in excellent operational condition, reporting any defects to the line manager.
Play a positive role in ensuring a safe environment is maintained and assist mobility impaired visitors with accessibility issues.
Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations and the General Data Protection Regulations.
Carry out other reasonable tasks as required; this could include cover for staff and other building management and access control duties.

What we are looking for

A reliable, trustworthy, competent, and physically fit person with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Confident, self-motivated, and able to use own initiative, highly responsive to company and customer requirements. Pro-active and consistent with the ability to adapt quickly to the different needs of the business and:

Hold a full UK driving licence with no endorsements.
Capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business.
Ability to comply with Health and Safety requirements.
Possess a flexible approach to accommodate changing requirements and priorities; able to use initiative.
Ability to deliver good customer facing skills and to develop close working relationships.
Present a smart appearance.
Basic IT proficiency.

Additional Information

MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.

Proof of right to work in UK essential.

The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week requiring an element of flexible output during the overarching service hours of 0730 and 1630 Mon to Thu and to 1600 on Fri only.

Required to wear approved company work wear.
