Position: Forest School Assistant (Full-time, Permanent)
Hours: 40 hours per week (choose between 4 longer days or 5 standard days)
Location: Highfield House Nursery, Outskirts of Milton Keynes (On-site)

Highfield House Nursery is offering an exciting opportunity for a Forest School Assistant to join our team and support the delivery of engaging, adventurous, and child-led outdoor learning experiences.

About the Role

As a Forest School Assistant, you will work closely with the Forest School Leader to deliver inspiring outdoor sessions for children of all ages. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting the setup, delivery, and wrap-up of daily Forest School sessions
  • Engaging with children to encourage exploration, problem-solving, and creativity outdoors
  • Helping ensure a safe and stimulating outdoor learning environment
  • Assisting with tool use, fire safety, and risk assessments (training provided)
  • Modelling a love of nature and respectful, confident outdoor behaviours
  • Encouraging independence and teamwork through nature-based play

What We’re Looking For

  • A passion for the outdoors and working with young children
  • Experience in an Early Years setting (preferred)
  • A Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification (or willingness to train)
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a love of child-led learning
  • Willingness to work in all weathers and support hands-on, muddy fun!
  • An understanding of EYFS and safeguarding practices
  • A First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • A driving licence is preferred due to our semi-rural location
