From our headquarters at Dovenby Hall, we design, manufacture, and operate championship-winning competition cars and offer advanced engineering solutions for global motorsport programmes.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-driven Engine Buyer to support our high-performance powertrain operations. This role is ideal for an experience technical buyer from an engineering or manufacturing background, who is keen to develop their knowledge within engine and powertrain procurement in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

Working closely with Engine Design, Build, and Operations teams, the Engine Buyer will manage the supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms, and ensure best-value sourcing without compromising quality, performance, or delivery.

The role and responsibilities include:

  • Procure engine and powertrain components, materials, and specialist services in line with engineering requirements.
  • Work closely with Engine Design, Build, and Operations teams to understand technical needs and production schedules.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
  • Raise purchase orders, manage lead times, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Support cost control, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with supplier selection, evaluation, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure procurement activity aligns with internal processes and industry standards.
  • Respond effectively to changing priorities and short lead-time demands typical of motorsport.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, or bill of materials (training provided where needed).
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with engineers, suppliers, and production teams.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and administrative skills.
  • Skilled in multitasking and prioritising workloads under pressure.
  • Computer literate with strong MS Office skills and proficient in ERP/MRP systems.
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Buyer, Procurement, or Supply Chain role within an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment.
