Full job description

Job Purpose:

As the Senior Quality Assurance Officer (operations), you hold a crucial leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety within the factory. In addition to implementing and maintaining robust quality management systems and conducting audits, you take on added responsibilities as the stand- in for the department manager and resource allocator. Your expertise and supervision play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of the production processes, preventing defects, and continuously improving product quality. You serve as a key point of contact and support the department manager in efficiently allocating resources to ensure seamless operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the QA Operations team and day-to-day activities, and deputise for the QA operations Manager as appropriate
  • Providing expert quality input and advice on production issues, serving as the primary quality point of contact on shift to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Effectively allocating and coordinating resources within the Quality Assurance team to optimize productivity and support efficient operations.
  • Conducting thorough documentation and batch reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Supervising final product inspections and releases, ensuring products meet all quality standards before reaching customers.
  • Taking a lead role in investigating complaints and monitoring Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) related to production, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Supporting the achievement of product release targets through timely batch reviews and effective management and approvals of batch events and deviations.
  • Leading or supporting timely investigations of deviations and complaints, driving root cause analysis and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensuring the completion of all Quality System commitments and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Facilitating the internal audit program and addressing audit findings promptly.
  • Proactively identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders on quality matters, maintaining effective communication channels.
  • Enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) principles and relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards in the production environment, including food and feed safety regulations.
  • Mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and support a team.
  • Proficiency in implementing and maintaining quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FEMAS/ISO/GMP) and the ability to ensure adherence to them during production.
  • Understanding of audit processes and practices to prepare for and participate in internal and external quality audits. Strong analytical abilities to investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Skilful in maintaining accurate records and documentation related to quality assurance activities.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders on quality matters.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in monitoring manufacturing processes and ensuring adherence to quality standards

Education & Experience:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a STEM-related subject (preferable but not essential).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a quality role within a Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing environment, with demonstrated supervisory experience.
