Contract: Freelance / Self-Employed – 24-week programme

About Your Health Norfolk

Your Health Norfolk provides lifestyle interventions across Norfolk, supporting people to improve their health, wellbeing and independence. We are currently looking for an experienced exercise professional to deliver a 24-week strength, balance and falls-prevention exercise programme in North Norfolk, with the programme expected to be based in either Holt or Mundesley. The exact venue, day and time are currently being arranged and will be confirmed with the successful practitioner.This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in falls prevention, rehabilitation, older adult exercise or a related area to deliver a structured, evidence-based programme within the local community.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering a one-hour weekly group exercise class over a 24-week period.Sessions will focus on improving participants' strength, balance, mobility and functional ability, with the overall aim of reducing falls risk, building confidence and supporting independence.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering safe, structured and engaging strength and balance exercise sessions.
  • Delivering appropriate evidence-based exercise aimed at reducing falls risk and improving physical function.
  • Adapting exercises through appropriate progressions and regressions to meet individual participant needs and abilities.
  • Monitoring participants throughout sessions and responding appropriately to any concerns.
  • Taking account of participants' health conditions and physical abilities when delivering exercise.
  • Completing required participant physical assessments and outcome monitoring throughout the programme.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance and programme documentation.
  • Reporting any accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or significant changes in participants' health or ability.
  • Ensuring exercise equipment is used and positioned safely.
  • Maintaining participant confidentiality and complying with GDPR and company procedures.

Full programme documentation, assessment materials and relevant procedures will be provided.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Hold appropriate professional qualifications and experience to safely deliver strength, balance and falls-prevention exercise to older adults.
  • Have relevant experience in falls prevention, rehabilitation, older adult exercise or a related area.
  • Be confident working with individuals with varying physical abilities and health conditions.
  • Be able to appropriately adapt, progress and regress exercise according to individual needs.
  • Hold a current and valid First Aid qualification.
  • Work safely within their professional qualifications, competence and scope of practice.
  • Have appropriate public liability and/or professional indemnity insurance relevant to their professional role.
  • Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check. If you do not currently hold a suitable Enhanced DBS, Your Health Norfolk will arrange and pay for this.
  • Be able to commit to delivering a weekly class for the duration of the 24-week programme.

FaME, Postural Stability Instructor (PSI) or other relevant falls-prevention training/experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

About You

We are looking for someone who is professional, reliable and enthusiastic about helping older adults maintain their independence.You should have appropriate knowledge, qualifications and experience to safely deliver and adapt strength and balance exercise for individuals who may be at increased risk of falls.If you are based in or able to travel to North Norfolk and have relevant experience in falls prevention, rehabilitation or older adult exercise, we would be pleased to hear from you.
