Job Description

**Please note: this position will begin with a two-week trial period, compensated on an hourly basis. If the trial is successfully completed, the candidate will enter a three-month full-time probation period, with the potential for a long-term role.**

This is not your usual A&R role. The Chinese music industry is growing and evolving by the day, and we are looking for a passionate music lover who wants to join us on this journey of joining the Western and Asian markets in a way that hasn’t been done before. We are therefore seeking a highly motivated A&R Specialist to join our UK/Chinese label. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding our music library and negotiating weekly single deals with our global roster of artists.

Training will be provided for the suitable candidate, but a hard work ethic, passion for music and finding new artists is essential!

Key Responsibilities

1. Talent Identification

● Daily scouting and research of emerging and developing artists across various pop/commercial genres.

● negotiating and completing 2 weekly ‘single deals’.

● Provide constructive feedback on musical compositions, arrangements and performances.

2. Relationship Building

● Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, producers, and other industry professionals.

● Act as a liaison between the label and artists, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

3. Market Analysis

● Stay abreast of industry trends, market demands and competitor activities.

4. Negotiation and Contracting

● Negotiate and finalise contracts, licensing agreements and other relevant contractual obligations.

● Ensure that all contractual terms align with the best interests of both the artist and the label.

Job Requirements

● A keen interest in popular music who is familiar with current trends and viral tracks across global markets

● Some form of sales background would be highly beneficial

● Confident, outgoing and capable of building strong relationships with artists and producers.

● Excellent written and oral communication skills .

● High attention to detail

● Graduate in music, music business or management-related course is essential.

● Experience in similar small independent record labels and other music-related companies is preferred.
