Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate in-person tutor to support a Year 12 student with a range of subjects, including Functional Skills Maths, Functional Skills English, Level 2 MJob Title: SEN Functional Skills, Music Technology & Photography Tutor – In Personusic Technology, and NCFE Level 2 Photography.

This role would suit a tutor with experience supporting students with Autism and ADHD, who can provide patient, encouraging, and personalised tuition. The successful candidate will focus not only on academic progress but also on building the student's confidence in a supportive, pressure-free learning environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a young person's educational journey by helping them develop both academically and personally.

About the Student

The student:

  • Is currently in Year 12.
  • Requires support in:
  • Functional Skills Maths
  • Functional Skills English
  • Level 2 Music Technology
  • NCFE Level 2 Photography
  • Has Autism and ADHD.
  • Benefits from a calm, supportive approach that builds confidence without placing them under unnecessary pressure.
  • Has a strong interest in photography, military aircraft, and cars.
  • Has previously experienced racist bullying at school, which significantly affected their confidence and trust in education. As a result, it is important that the tutor is understanding, empathetic, and able to build a positive, trusting relationship.
  • Has access arrangements in place for their studies.

The family also has a friendly Labrador and two timid cats, so tutors should be comfortable working in a home with pets.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised in-person tuition tailored to the student's individual learning needs.
  • Support the student across Functional Skills Maths and English, Level 2 Music Technology, and NCFE Level 2 Photography.
  • Build the student's confidence through positive encouragement and achievable learning goals.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit a student with Autism and ADHD.
  • Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
  • Liaise with the family and tuition team regarding the student's progress where appropriate.

Tutor Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience tutoring or teaching Functional Skills and/or Level 2 qualifications.
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, or other additional learning needs.
  • A patient, understanding, and encouraging teaching style.
  • The ability to build strong rapport and trust with young people.
  • An interest in, or ability to relate to, the student's hobbies, particularly photography, military aircraft, or cars, would be highly beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Availability

  • Location: In person only in Beckenham.
  • Schedule: To be agreed with the family.
  • Frequency: To be agreed based on the student's needs and the tutor's availability.

This role is ideal for a tutor who is passionate about supporting young people with additional learning needs and who enjoys building confidence through positive relationships, personalised teaching, and a genuine understanding of each student's strengths and interests.

Pay: From £35.00 per hour
