Andrew Jays School of Music is a friendly, family-run music school committed to providing high-quality music education for students of all ages and abilities. Since opening in April 2021, we have grown steadily and continue to expand our services to inspire and support more aspiring musicians.

The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our growing team and take
This position has arisen due to the relocation of our Principal Teacher and offers a unique opportunity to take over an established and active student base. The successful candidate will inherit existing students and continue supporting their musical development while also welcoming new students as the school continues to grow.
The role is ideal for a skilled music educator who is passionate about helping students reach their potential through supportive, engaging, and personalised tuition. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lessons in their specialist instrument(s) and/or voice to students of varying ages, abilities, and musical interests.
Please note: Applicants must be based within a 5-10 mile radius of Warlingham (CR6) and must have access to suitable teaching premises from which to deliver lessons. These are essential requirements, and applications that do not meet both criteria will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, structured, and personalised lessons tailored to individual student needs and goals.
- Teach and develop technical skills, musicianship, performance ability, and confidence.
- Plan lessons that encourage consistent progress and enjoyment of learning.
- Assess student development and provide constructive feedback.
- Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and, where appropriate, students with special educational needs.
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and professional learning environment.
- Maintain effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, goals, and lesson expectations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Keep up to date with current teaching methods, pedagogy, and industry developments within your area of specialism.
Essential Qualities
- Based within a 5-10 mile radius of Warlingham (CR6).
- Access to suitable teaching premises for delivering lessons.
- Proven experience teaching music, either in voice, one or more instruments, or a combination of both.
- Strong subject knowledge and technical understanding of your specialist instrument(s) and/or voice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire students of different ages and abilities.
- Reliable, organised, and professional in approach.
- Passion for music education and student development.
- Ability to work independently and manage a teaching schedule effectively.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and enjoyable learning environment.
Desirable Qualities
- Relevant qualifications in music, music performance, music education, pedagogy, or a related field.
- Experience teaching children and young people.
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Ability to teach a variety of musical styles and genres.
- Performance experience as a musician and/or vocalist.
- Knowledge of music theory and musicianship training.
- Experience preparing students for examinations, auditions, performances, or graded assessments.
- Current safeguarding training or willingness to undertake training.
- Membership of relevant professional music or teaching organisations.
- Ability to teach additional instruments or disciplines would be advantageous.
