Part-Time Music & Band Leader – Primary Schools
Pay: £50 per sessionHours: Typically around 3pm–5pm, weekdays during school term timeLocation: Newark-on-Trent and surrounding Nottinghamshire schoolsExperience: Musical experience preferred, but not essential. Full training provided.
Team Rock is expanding its Bandcamp programme across primary schools in Nottinghamshire and we’re looking for reliable, enthusiastic people to join our team.
Bandcamp is a four-week after-school rock band experience where children form bands, play guitars, bass, drums and vocals, rehearse together and perform live for parents.
This is not a traditional music teaching role.
As a Team Rock Band Leader you will:
- Lead and support groups of primary-age children
- Help children play guitar, bass, drums and vocals using the Team Rock system
- Encourage confidence, teamwork and participation
- Set up and pack down instruments and audio equipment
- Support children through rehearsals and their final live performance
- Represent Team Rock professionally in schools
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, professional and punctual
- Confident and friendly with children
- Comfortable leading a group
- Calm, adaptable and organised
- Happy using basic music and audio equipment
- Able to travel to local primary schools
Musical experience is an advantage, particularly guitar, bass, drums, vocals, live sound or playing in bands, but you do not need to be a qualified music teacher.
Being professional, dependable and great with children is more important to us than formal qualifications.
Full training is provided and new Band Leaders will initially shadow existing Team Rock sessions.
This is a self-employed freelance role, with work offered according to school bookings and your availability.
The role involves working with children and appropriate safeguarding requirements apply.
Pay: £50.00 per day
Benefits:
- Casual dress
Application question(s):
- * Which weekdays are you regularly available between approximately 3pm and 5pm during school term time?
- Do you have access to your own transport?
- Do you have experience working with primary-age children?
- Do you have any musical, live sound, audio or music-tech experience? Please briefly describe.
- Do you currently hold an enhanced DBS certificate? If yes, is it registered with the Update Service?
- Are you comfortable working on a self-employed/freelance basis?
