Job Offer – Songwriting/Music Teacher
Salary: £26,400 per annum
Hours: 8:00 am until 16:00 pm (full time)
Start Date: January 4th 2027
Location: Primary schools in Wiltshire (Swindon, Chippenham, etc)
Holiday Entitlement: 11+ weeks of school holidays in line with the academic calendar. Any holiday during term time would be unpaid and need to be approved.
Benefits: Paid school holidays, mileage paid between schools and outside of 40 mile radius of your home
Transport: Driving Licence and own transport is an essential requirement for the role

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:

• Delivering engaging songwriting and music lessons in primary schools.
• Delivering engaging instrument tuition on drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard and vocals that appropriately follow our progression paths.
• Supporting students to develop their music skills, writing skills, instrument skills, creativity, confidence, recording, performance and collaboration skills.
• Collaborating on ideas with the company director and teaching staff to ensure continued growth of the company and our unique framework.
• Be a role model to the children, the staff and most of all, yourself!

SMASH HIT Songwriting School is the UK’s only primary music programme that combines songwriting, instrumental skills, and creative expression. In small groups, children learn to play instruments, write their own songs, and perform them in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Each term, they develop musical skills, gain confidence, and explore creativity, while contributing to the school curriculum. SMASH HIT isn’t just music lessons, it’s a proven way to engage children, boost confidence, and unleash creativity across primary schools.

As a teacher at SMASH HIT you’ll need:

• To be competent on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals. You will receive training for the others.
• Have basic recording knowledge for our end of term recording season.
• The enthusiasm to learn how to teach songwriting lessons and complete our training programme before you start your timetable.
• The resilience to work in a role that provides some of your greatest creative moments and biggest creative challenges – often all in the same day!
• The confidence to be yourself at work, be proud of your uniqueness and communicate equally well with children, teachers, parents and staff.
• The integrity to always promote the safety and well-being of children and young people.
• To be an organised, independent worker, with good time management and administration skills and knowledge of GDPR data management.
• A driving licence and your own transport. This role requires you to use your own car to transport equipment and drive between schools.
