Creative Psychotherapist – Art, Music, Drama or Play Therapy

Location: South Woodham Ferrers, Essex
Salary: £36,000–£38,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Start Date: ASAP

Make Your Therapeutic Skills Count

Are you a qualified Creative Psychotherapist ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people?

We're recruiting for a specialist therapeutic school in Essex seeking a talented therapist to support secondary-aged pupils with complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, trauma histories and additional learning needs.

This is an opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team where therapy is central to the educational experience. You'll help young people express themselves, develop emotional resilience, build confidence and overcome barriers to learning.

Whether your specialism is art, music, drama or play therapy, this role offers the chance to use your expertise in a setting where relationships come first and your work can have a lasting impact.

The Role

  • Deliver tailored therapeutic interventions to pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Build trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma, adversity or disrupted attachments.
  • Integrate therapeutic approaches into the classroom alongside teaching and therapy colleagues.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, self-expression and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers and external professionals.
  • Contribute to therapy plans, progress reports and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professional practice and clinical record-keeping.

What You'll Bring

  • A recognised degree-level or higher professional qualification in your specialist therapeutic discipline.
  • Current registration or accreditation with the appropriate professional body, where applicable.
  • Experience delivering therapy to children or young people.
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment, child development and SEMH.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour in a school or comparable setting.
  • The resilience, empathy and flexibility to work effectively in a complex educational environment.

What's in It for You?

  • £36,000–£38,000 annual salary
  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • Private healthcare, including medical and dental cover.
  • Discounted gym membership, lifestyle benefits and rewards.
  • Professional development and genuine opportunities for career progression.
  • Financial support of up to 100% towards eligible professional qualifications.
  • The opportunity to work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team and make a real difference to young people's futures.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

Your next role could be an opportunity to do more than deliver therapy — it could help change the direction of a young person's life.

We're keen to speak with qualified Creative Psychotherapists who are ready for a new challenge and can make a difference from day one. Apply today, or contact me directly for a confidential conversation about the opportunity.
