Overview

Sing Education is searching for inspirational musicians who can ignite a passion for music in young minds. If you hold a degree in music or a related field such as musical theatre or music education and are enthusiastic about bringing the transformative power of music to children in Scarborough, we want to hear from you.

Full-time Salary PA:

£22,379 - £29,288 (for 5 days per week), based on a 5-point progressive pay scale. Staff progress up the pay scale with each 12 months of service following a successful managerial supervision meeting. Initial pay is dependent on classroom music experience and weekly hours, + pension. 7 - 40 hours per week - 38 weeks per year + paid training. No PGCE or QTS required.

Our Mission:

At Sing Education, we are leaders in music education, dedicated to recruiting and training exceptional music teachers and creating innovative teaching resources. Our goal is to instill a love of music in every child, fostering joy and unity both in and out of the classroom.

Currently, Sing Education reaches over 20,000 children weekly across London, Yorkshire, Kent, and Slough. We are on the 7th edition of our bespoke teaching resource. Each Sing Education teacher benefits from over 70 hours of annual in-house training, covering our schemes of work, extra-curricular activities, classroom management, and more. Our team comprises over 90 highly motivated and skilled music teachers.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Delivering weekly full-day music lessons from 8.45am-3.30/4.30pm during term time
  • Maintaining a permanent placement at a designated Sing Education primary school
  • Conducting singing-led whole-class music lessons from Nursery to Year 6, using Sing Education resources
  • Leading singing assemblies
  • Running choirs, lunchtime, and after-school music clubs

Person Specification:

Qualifications

  • University graduate with a degree in music or a related field
  • QTS is desirable but not essential

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong vocal skills with the confidence to lead lessons and assemblies
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Capability to conduct whole-class music lessons
  • Basic keyboard proficiency for classroom use
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum for music
  • Proficient with ICT and able to use online systems such as G Suite

Experience

  • Experience in classroom teaching or one-on-one instruction
  • Previous work with children or young people in a teaching or leadership role

Personal Attributes

  • Passionate about inspiring a love for music in pupils
  • Strong classroom management and disciplinary skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both Sing Education and school teams
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality
  • Possesses a sense of humor and can generate enthusiasm for music
  • Highly organized with excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to personal and professional development
