Full job description

We are looking for a professional, warm and energetic Nanny to join our family long term, caring for our toddler and baby.

We've designed this role a little differently. Instead of fixed hours, we offer guaranteed weekly pay at a strong hourly rate — and in return, we ask for some flexibility around when those hours actually fall.

About our family and home

We live in a rural home near Shocklach with plenty of outdoor space, surrounded by a working farm and a nature reserve. Our home is warm, happy and centred around the children — they spend a lot of time outside, and we love that they are growing up with that kind of freedom and connection to nature.

Our approach to parenting is Montessori-inspired and child-led. We focus on independent exploration, hands-on activities, time in nature, and following the children's own interests and developmental cues — particularly important at this early stage. We are a screen-free household, and we are looking for a nanny who shares this ethos and feels genuinely at home with this style of care.

The role

We are looking for a Nanny who can become our trusted "go-to" childcare support. The schedule will vary from week to week, and the key requirement is flexibility.

Sometimes we may need a few hours at short notice at the weekend; at other times, longer periods with more notice. This will not be each and every weekend — but flexibility is essential so that we can adapt childcare around family and work commitments.

While actual hours worked will usually be fewer than 40 per week, pay is guaranteed for the full 40 hours every week — to reflect the value we place on your flexibility and availability.

The aim is a balanced arrangement: you receive stable full-time pay and a strong hourly rate, while we have flexibility when family or work commitments require it.

What we are looking for

The most important part of the role is high-quality, active childcare. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being "all in" with children — imaginative play, crafts, outdoor exploring, reading, games, dens, and supporting developmental milestones.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creative, active, child-led play with our toddler
  • Supporting our baby's routines and developmental milestones
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the children
  • Keeping children's areas tidy
  • Children's laundry and basic nanny duties (tidying play areas, washing children's dishes, sterilising bottles)
  • Driving as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience with both babies and toddlers
  • Familiarity with, or genuine interest in, Montessori and child-led approaches
  • Warm, reliable, energetic and highly adaptable
  • Full UK driving licence and own reliable car
  • Live within a 30-minute drive of Shocklach, Malpas.
  • Happy to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
  • Right to work in the UK
  • References from previous childcare roles
  • Comfortable around pets and farm animals
  • Looking for a long-term role

What we offer

  • £20 per hour gross, with guaranteed pay for 40 hours per week
  • Same hourly rate for weekday and weekend hours
  • 29 days paid holiday per year including bank holidays
  • Workplace pension (auto-enrolment)
  • Mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile
  • A warm, welcoming family environment in a beautiful rural setting
  • Long-term, stable role with a family who values and respects their nanny

This role would suit a Nanny who likes variety, is happy to be flexible, and values the security of guaranteed full-time pay even when the actual hours are often lower.
