Full job description

About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we're delivering some of the UK's most critical energy infrastructure projects, helping to connect communities and support the transition to a low-carbon future. As our portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for a Quality Compliance Advisor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality, compliance or continuous improvement professional who enjoys collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and driving positive change across a large, complex organisation. Working within our Central Quality team, you'll play a key role in promoting best practice, supporting operational excellence and ensuring our Business Management System (BMS) continues to evolve and deliver real value across the business.

The role is primarily based in Derby but requires regular travel across the UK to support operational teams, projects and functional departments.

What you'll be doing

As a Quality Compliance Advisor, you'll work closely with operational and functional teams to ensure our Business Management System remains effective, practical and aligned to the needs of the business. You'll help drive a culture of continuous improvement, supporting teams in adopting efficient, compliant and high-performing ways of working.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering Business Management System training, workshops and awareness sessions across the business.
  • Facilitating process mapping activities to identify opportunities for improvement, standardisation and efficiency.
  • Supporting the development, review and enhancement of operational and functional business processes.
  • Working with project and functional teams across Power T&D to promote quality, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting the rollout of 'Right First Time' and other quality improvement programmes.
  • Advising teams on Lean principles, process improvement methodologies and best practice approaches.
  • Assisting with root cause analysis activities and helping teams identify sustainable solutions to recurring issues.
  • Collaborating with Business Quality Managers, Quality Advisors and project teams to ensure consistency across the business.
  • Supporting audits, certification activities and stakeholder assurance requirements where required.
  • Identifying opportunities to remove waste, improve efficiency and enhance overall business performance.
  • Promoting the principles of Build to Last and embedding a culture of continual improvement across the organisation.

Who we're looking for

We're seeking someone who combines strong interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for quality, compliance and driving business improvement.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience working within a quality, compliance, business improvement or operational excellence environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
  • Experience delivering workshops, presentations, coaching or training sessions.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including process mapping, Lean principles and root cause analysis.
  • The ability to influence and support change across a diverse operational business.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office applications and digital business systems.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Previous project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Risk Management principles.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, utilities, infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems and certification frameworks.

Why work for us

Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.

Why join us?

As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasn’t rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too. You’ll have the freedom to shape the package that’s right for you and your life. Here are some of our key benefits:

  • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
  • Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave
  • Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more…
