What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Supporting the design and implementation of automation solutions using modern control systems and platforms
- Collaborating with engineering and process teams to identify automation opportunities and optimise workflows
- Working with APIs, microservices and distributed systems to integrate automated solutions
- Contributing to the deployment and testing of automation systems across manufacturing environments
- Documenting automation designs and system configurations in line with ISO 9001 standards
- Supporting troubleshooting and optimisation of existing automated systems
- Liaising with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet operational needs
What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Proven experience in automation engineering, control systems or a closely related field
- Working knowledge of automation platforms and tools such as Azure, CI/CD pipelines, Docker or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with programming languages such as .NET, ASP.NET, Python or Java
- Understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines and system integration
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows environments
- Familiarity with technical standards such as ISO 9001
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within engineering teams
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice-to-have skills and experience could include:
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring or similar frameworks
- Knowledge of React or front-end technologies for control interfaces
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC or SAP RISE systems
- Experience with Power BI or data visualisation tools
- AWS, GCP or other cloud platform experience
- Terraform or infrastructure-as-code experience
- SMSTS, First Aid, HV or other relevant safety certifications
- Agile or BPMN process modelling experience
