Overview:

The Network Engineer is a critical technical role responsible for the implementation & management of our customer networks, firewalls, VPNs, circuits & network security. Alongside a team of Network Engineers, you will lead on the deployment of new networks, their ongoing maintenance, and optimisation of performance for efficiency and reliability. Whilst collaborating closely with Cloud & Infrastructure, End User & Security teams, the primary focus remains on the efficient, scalable setup and management of customer networks, paying particular attention to security, availability & capacity; swiftly responding to, and resolving, any network issues to minimise downtime. You will be pivotal to building, securing, & maintaining robust network infrastructures, crucial for maintaining high operational uptime and aligning with the overall IT strategies of our customers.

Core Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Technical Architect (Networks) and Pre-Sales to understand technical designs & implement solutions.

Work closely with Engineers in different disciplines (i.e. End User, Cloud & Infrastructure, and Security) to be certain that customer solutions sit well within their holistic technical landscape.

Produce high quality pre-installation and post-installation documentation.

Work closely with Project Managers to ensure high quality solutions are delivered on time and on budget.

Ensure customer networks are onboarded effectively with thorough documentation of their network, and that they have robust monitoring threshold and alerting set, along with update/patch schedules.

Fault diagnosis & resolution when escalated from 1st or 2nd Line teams.

Proactive problem management across our customers driving stability & efficiency within their infrastructure.

Knowledge transfer to 1st & 2nd Line teams, ensuring we continue our internal development through upskilling.

Produce technical reports for the Network & UC Manager as required

Attend customer sites where necessary.

Any other duties reasonably required by your line manager.

Requirements

Professional certifications in networking such as CCNA, CCNP, or Meraki CMNA/CMNO, or Fortinet NSE are highly desirable.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with specific expertise in Meraki, Cisco, and Fortinet products.

Proven experience in managing complex networks in a multi-vendor environment.

Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).

Solid experience with network security practices, VPNs, and firewall configuration and management.

Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong communication and documentation skills.
