The Schoolrooms Cafe & Kitchen sits next door to our sister venue Assembly Bar & Bistro are together two well-established, high-quality destination venues located on the edge of Sheffield, in the beautiful village of Bradfield within the Peak District. Family owned and proudly independent, we are now looking for experienced, versatile and enthusiastic Chefs to join our professional kitchen teams.

Opening Days & Typical working hours

  • Cafe Monday - Sunday 7:30am-4:30pm
  • Bistro Evenings: Wednesday - Saturday 12pm-10pm
  • Bistro Sunday Roast : 10am-8pm

Approximate weekly hours: 40 guaranteed with option for more

The Role

Due to the unique nature of the two venues operating as a busy daytime café and a vibrant evening bistro we offer a variety of flexible shift patterns to suit the right candidate and their preferences. You will help deliver consistently high-quality food, with regularly evolving menus across both venues. This role offers genuine creative input, with the opportunity to contribute to menu development and dish creation using a generous budget per head.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and delivering high-quality dishes using the finest locally sourced ingredients
  • Running sections confidently and occasionally taking full responsibility for the kitchen during service
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene standards and a clean, organised kitchen
  • Completing kitchen record, keeping and ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations
  • Supporting menu development, testing new dishes, and contributing fresh ideas
