Enjoy a Three-Day Weekend, Every Week

Looking for a transport planning role that offers genuine work-life balance without compromising on responsibility or career progression?

At LHT Logistics, you'll work Monday to Thursday only, with no weekend working, giving you a three-day weekend every week.

Join the LHT Team

LHT Logistics is a third-generation, family-run transport company based in Waltham Abbey, proudly serving North London, West Essex and Hertfordshire.

We're a close-knit team that believes in treating people with respect, supporting one another and taking pride in delivering an excellent service for our customers. As we've grown, we've remained true to those values, which has helped us earn recognition within our industry, including being named Pall-Ex Member of the Year. We're also proud to hold FORS Silver accreditation, reflecting our commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.

Operating a fleet of 16 company-owned vehicles, we're continuing to invest in our people and our operation. Due to our continued growth and increasing workload, we're creating this brand-new position to work alongside our existing Transport Planner, extending our planning function into the evening and making better use of the operational day.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new role within a growing business, where your experience, ideas and decision-making will genuinely influence how our evening operation develops. If you're looking for a role where you can make a real impact while becoming part of a supportive, family-run team, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

Please note: This is predominantly a Transport Planning role and is specifically aimed at experienced Transport Planners. Applicants should have proven experience planning busy, multi-drop transport operations.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our afternoon and evening transport operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning approximately 250–300 pallet deliveries and collections each day, coordinating both our Pall-Ex pallet network deliveries and our dedicated local transport fleet throughout North London, West Essex and Hertfordshire.

This role is centred around producing an efficient and commercially effective daily transport plan, balancing delivery windows, vehicle capacity, driver hours, customer requirements and operational efficiency.

Whilst you'll also support our drivers, liaise with customers and respond to operational issues, planning is very much the core function of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordinating approximately 250–300 pallet deliveries and collections each day.
  • Planning and managing both our Pall-Ex pallet network operation and dedicated local transport fleet.
  • Producing efficient daily delivery routes, maximising vehicle utilisation whilst maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Balancing delivery windows, customer priorities, vehicle capacity and driver hours.
  • Managing and supporting drivers throughout the evening operation.
  • Monitoring the end-of-day progress of deliveries and collections.
  • Responding quickly to operational issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Liaising with customers regarding collections, deliveries and service updates.
  • Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, vehicle legislation and company procedures.
  • Completing transport administration accurately using our Transport Management System.
  • Working closely with our warehouse and night trunk operation to ensure a seamless handover.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys transport planning and takes pride in producing efficient, well-structured transport plans.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Transport Planner is essential.
  • Experience planning a busy, high-volume, multi-drop transport operation.
  • Experience planning approximately 250–300 pallet deliveries / collections per day would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience of pallet network operations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of North London, West Essex and Hertfordshire.
  • The ability to balance customer service, vehicle utilisation, delivery windows and driver hours.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence to make decisions in a fast-paced transport environment.
  • Good IT skills and experience using a Transport Management System.
  • A positive, hands-on attitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • A genuine team player who thrives in a busy operation.

What We Offer

  • £41,000 annual salary.
  • Monday to Thursday working pattern – no weekends.
  • Three-day weekend every week.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Opportunities to upskill and develop your career within a growing business.
  • Genuine progression into senior transport and operations management for the right person.
  • A supportive family-run business where your contribution is genuinely valued.
  • Modern fleet, modern systems and a well-established operation.

Why Join LHT?

At LHT, you'll never be just a number. As a family-run business, we know our people are our greatest asset, and we're proud of the supportive culture we've built over many years.

We work hard, look after one another and celebrate success together. Everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership of their role and continue developing their skills. Whether you've been with us for six months or six years, you'll be part of a team that values honesty, teamwork and doing the right thing.

We're looking for the right person, not just the next person. If you're someone who takes pride in your work, enjoys being part of a close team and wants to help shape the future of a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today with your CV and tell us why you'd be a great addition to the LHT Logistics team.
