General Manager- New Opening

Siren City Bars, Cheltenham (The Brewery Quarter)

About Us

Siren Craft Brew has been at the forefront of the UK craft beer movement since 2013, consistently ranked among the world's top 100 breweries on RateBeer. We are bold, flavourful and uncompromising, and that spirit runs through everything we do, including our bars and pubs.

Siren City Bars is our growing hospitality arm, operating a collection of distinctive venues that share our passion for great beer, exceptional hospitality and genuine community. We are now bringing that same energy to Cheltenham, and we're looking for an exceptional General Manager to be a major part of the opening of the venue.

The Role

As General Manager, you will take full ownership of the Cheltenham venue, its people, its guests, and its commercial performance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, craft-led environment and knows how to build a team and a culture from the ground up.

You will be the face of the venue, driving a brilliant guest experience whilst hitting your financial targets and developing the next generation of hospitality talent under your wing.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

· Recruit, onboard and develop a high-performing team

· Foster a positive, inclusive team culture aligned with Siren's values

· Coach and mentor your management team to grow into future leaders

· Lead shift briefings and maintain consistent team communication

· Manage performance, conduct appraisals and drive engagement

P&L and Financial Management

· Take full accountability for the venue's P&L, including revenue, GP and cost control

· Deliver against sales, labour and margin targets set in conjunction with the area team

· Manage stock controls, ordering and supplier relationships to optimise GP

· Produce weekly trading reports and use data to drive commercial decisions

· Identify and act on opportunities to grow revenue and improve profitability

Guest Experience

· Set and uphold exceptional standards of hospitality across every touchpoint

· Build a loyal local following by creating a welcoming, memorable atmosphere

· Respond proactively to guest feedback and drive continuous improvement

· Champion product knowledge, especially craft beer, throughout the team

· Ensure the venue always looks, feels and operates at its very best

Compliance and Operations

· Maintain full compliance with licensing, health and safety, and food hygiene legislation

· Oversee opening and closing procedures and venue security

· Liaise with the wider Siren team on maintenance, marketing and new initiatives

Skills and Experience Required

· Proven experience as a General Manager in a high-volume bar, pub or restaurant

· Strong commercial acumen with a track record of hitting P&L targets

· Excellent people manager, you lead by example and bring the best out of those around you

· Passion for craft beer and hospitality (you don't need to be a brewer, but you do need to care)

· Confident with scheduling, stock management and financial reporting

· Experience leading a team of 10+ people in a fast-paced environment

· A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences

· Personal licence holder desirable, or willingness to obtain one

Benefits

· Company pension scheme

· Discounts across all Siren venues

· 28 days paid holiday

· Genuine career development within a growing hospitality group

· Opportunity to shape a brand new venue from the ground up

· Be part of one of the UK's most exciting craft beer businesses

Job Specifics

· Total package: up to £47,000 per annum (base, tronc +bonus)

· Base salary: up to £36,000 (dependent on experience)

· Tronc: £4,000–£7,000 per annum

· Performance bonus: 10% of base salary

· Location: Cheltenham

· Contract: Full-time, permanent

· Hours: 45 hours per week (including weekends and evenings)

· Reporting to: Hospitality Area Manager

· Site opening in September/October

· Training for 4-6 week period at our bar in Reading before opening
