We are delighted to be offering this exciting opportunity to join our talented, experienced and supportive Educational Psychology team in the beautiful and historic city of York. Our team of qualified and trainee Educational Psychologists (EPs) has increased in size over the last 12 months. In response to the SEND reforms and Experts at Hand model we are looking to expand further. These four new Assistant Educational Psychologist posts are an opportunity to join a forward thinking and progressive team at an exciting time and contribute to York being a place where children and families belong and thrive.

Our Educational Psychology Service is highly regarded by schools, settings and families and we are developing strong relationships with other professionals working within York. We have links with a range of doctoral training providers, including the Universities of Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham.

As an Assistant Educational Psychologist in York, you would be working in a neighbourhood within a needs-led service model that supports a graduated approach, with a focus on early intervention and providing high quality assessments across the 0-25 age range.

You must hold an Honours degree in Psychology. You will be expected to have gained at least one year of recent and relevant experience in working with children, young people and families.

As part of this role, you will be required to travel to schools and settings out in the community, therefore, a full and valid driving licence and use of a car is desirable.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance in spoken English to CEFR level C2. This requirement is in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty).

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
