Chef – Estates & Facilities
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
Based at Queens Medical Centre - NG7 2UH and City Hospital - NG5 1PB. You must be able to work at both QMC & City Campuses (we will try and accommodate a preferred site).
Working 5 shifts between Monday – Sunday, 7.5 hours per day between 06:00 & 18:30 £12.71 - £21.03 per hour (Shift dependant)
NHS Professionals (NHSP) are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Chef to join the Estates & Facilities catering team at Nottingham University Hospitals on a temporary basis.
This role is ideal for someone with catering experience who enjoys working in a busy, rewarding environment, preparing fresh, nutritious meals for patients across the Trust.
You will work within the Central Production Unit, Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre kitchen, and/or the Receipt and Distribution Unit, producing a wide range of meals including main courses, vegetables, salads, bakery items and therapeutic diets.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY ROLE ONGOING
Duties will include
- Preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food in line with food hygiene legislation
- Producing meals that meet the nutritional and cultural needs of patients
- Working both independently and as part of the catering team
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food safety and kitchen hygiene
- Completing HACCP documentation and maintaining food safety records
- Supporting stock management and minimising food waste
- Communicating with ward teams and dietitians to meet patient needs
- Reporting equipment issues and maintaining safe working practices
- Assisting with training of new starters where required
You’ll have the following skills/experience
- Must have Level 2 Food Safety Certificate and Allergen training, knowledge of special diets preferred
- Previous experience as a chef or cook in a professional kitchen
- Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and safe kitchen practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced catering environment
- Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused approach
- Ability to work in hot kitchens, walk-in fridges/freezers and stand for long periods
