Full job description

Trauma & Orthopaedic Medical Secretary

Are you an organised, compassionate and proactive administrator who takes pride in delivering excellent support to both patients and clinical teams? If so, we would love to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trauma & Orthopaedic Medical Secretary to join our dedicated team at Broomfield Hospital. In this pivotal role, you will provide a comprehensive secretarial service, supporting consultants and clinical staff while helping to ensure patients receive a seamless and positive experience throughout their care journey.

You will use your excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills to manage a varied workload, including correspondence, clinic administration, patient enquiries and the coordination of patient pathways. As a key point of contact, you will work closely with colleagues across the Trust to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.

We are looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a busy environment, has a keen eye for detail and enjoys working as part of a supportive team. In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills within a friendly and rewarding NHS setting.

If you are passionate about providing outstanding administrative support and making a real difference to patient care, apply today and join our Trauma & Orthopaedic team.

Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Associate Specialists, Specialist Registrars and senior technical staff within a busy multidisciplinary team.

Process diagnostic reports and clinical correspondence promptly, ensuring patients progress efficiently through their care pathway.

Support the management of patient pathways, helping to deliver services in line with national waiting time and access targets.

Maintain accurate patient records and administrative systems, ensuring all information is updated in a timely and confidential manner.

Coordinate appointments, investigations and follow-up requirements, liaising with patients, clinicians and other departments as required.

Act as a key point of contact for patients, relatives and healthcare professionals, providing a professional and responsive service.

Monitor and track patient appointments, diagnostic outcomes and pathway milestones, escalating any delays or concerns appropriately.

Contribute to the smooth running of the Orthopaedic service by undertaking a range of administrative duties and supporting continuous service improvement initiatives.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
