Are you a friendly, organised, and professional individual looking for a rewarding role in a busy healthcare environment? St Mary’s Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is seeking a dedicated Receptionist to join our team and play a vital role in delivering excellent patient care.
As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will provide a welcoming and compassionate service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the UTC. Your responsibilities will include registering patients, managing appointments and patient records, responding to telephone enquiries, liaising with clinical and administrative teams, and ensuring accurate data entry in line with NHS standards.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. Previous reception, administrative, or healthcare experience is desirable, although full training will be provided if successful at interview.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to providing high-quality urgent care services to our local community. Flexibility, reliability, and a patient-centred approach are essential.

To maintain a high level of customer care at all times. To liaise and
communicate effectively and sympathetically with all visitors and
patients to the department.
Greet patients in a courteous manner at all times, dealing with all
enquiries politely and efficiently, displaying empathy when answering
queries at the reception desk or over the telephone.
Monitor the welfare of patients in the waiting area and notify a member
of the clinical team if concerned about a patient wellbeing. Escalating
when there are patients that are deteriorating in the waiting area.
To obtain patients details in a sensitive manner taking into
consideration the diversities of the general public.
Observing the Trust policies around confidentiality with regards to
sensitive / personal information. To recognise the legality of patient
documentation and maintain patient confidentiality at all times in line
with the Trust’s Information Governance Policy.
To cover service needs across all receptionist roles in the UEM
directorate.
To respond to ad hoc enquiries and complaints in a pleasant and
responsive manner, solving problems immediately where possible and
referring to an appropriate senior person if necessary.
