Plains View Surgery is a busy and friendly GP practice serving approximately 10,000 patients. We are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and are looking for an experienced and dedicated Receptionist/Care Navigator to join our team.

This is a demanding but rewarding role at the heart of our practice. The successful applicant will be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the surgery.

Essential Requirements

Please note: Applications will only be considered from candidates who have previous experience working within a GP Surgery and who possess a good working knowledge of the clinical system SystmOne.

Due to the nature of this role, experience in a GP practice environment is essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing a professional, friendly and efficient reception service to patients and visitors.
  • Answering a high volume of telephone calls and dealing with patient enquiries.
  • Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using SystmOne.
  • Navigating patients to the most appropriate service or clinician.
  • Processing repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Registering new patients and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Liaising with GPs, nurses, hospitals and community services.
  • Handling confidential information in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines.
  • Supporting the wider practice team to ensure excellent patient care.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

  • Experienced in working within a GP Surgery environment.
  • Proficient in using SystmOne.
  • Confident and professional when communicating with patients and colleagues.
  • Kind, caring and empathetic.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Highly organised with excellent multitasking abilities.
  • Reliable, punctual and flexible.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

Flexibility Requirement

The successful applicant will be expected to provide holiday and sickness cover when required and therefore must be flexible in their approach to working hours.
