To be responsible for establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all the Multi disciplinary Teams, Carers, Hotel Service Staff and General Public.
To provide a friendly clean and comfortable and safe environment for patients and staff, ensuring a positive service user experience that reflects the values of Summerhill Supplies Limited (SSL) and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT)
To work as a member of the Hotel Services/Ward team by contributing to the provision of a comfortable and effective stay for patients.
To be responsible for over seeing that the ward is clean and tidy, that patient’s food is delivered correctly, that repairs, maintenance, linen services and consumables are available to contribute to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere .
At SSL, we work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), to deliver facilities management, transport and other support services to over 50 sites across the West Midlands.
Our team keeps expanding and since our establishment, in 2012, we have grown rapidly though the acquisition of new sites and services.
At SSL we take pride in our focus to support and contribute to the Trust’s aim which is to help people get better and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness.
Sustainability – All staff are expected to support SSL in meeting our ‘Green’ objectives, being responsible and considerate with regards to all ‘resources’ used and acting to minimise waste (e.g., products purchased, miles travelled, or power used). SSL is mandated to meet national carbon net zero targets and is being performance managed towards that achievement. Every member of staff wishing to work for SSL is expected to contribute to a greener and more sustainable organisation.
The health and safety of our staff is our top priority. We partner with our occupational health provider to check/offer vaccinations for Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Polio, Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, and rubella (MMR) Varicella, Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) in line with recommended best practices for healthcare settings.

GENERAL
Responsible for ensuring, in conjunction with the ward team, that the cleaning standards meet the agreed levels, and that any shortfalls are dealt with quickly.
Assist with the cleaning and catering tasks as described in works schedule.
Responsible for ensuring the day area, dining room and interview rooms, are kept clean, tidy and welcoming for patients and visitors.
Responsible for the cleaning of patient’s en-suite bedrooms and that they are kept clean and free of clutter at all times, and that the ward is tidy throughout.
Responsible for establishing, maintaining and assisting with a programme of curtain changing throughout the ward, in line with Trust policy.
Responsible for ensuring that following the patient’s discharge, the en-suite bedroom is cleaned and equipped in preparation for the next admission.
Responsible for ensuring patients personal clothing is washed and correctly stored.
Responsible for ordering of consumables and other supplies, ensuring that these are correctly stored, and used in rotation.
Responsible for assisting nursing staff in cleaning medical equipment.
To attend all mandatory and non mandatory training as required.
To be responsible for all patients meals, snacks and beverages including special diets, adhering to standards and procedures and training practices for the delivery and service of all meals.
Responsible for ensuring the ward complies with the Trust Food hygiene policy i.e fridge temperature and brings to the Clinical Managers attention any no compliance.
It is everyone responsible to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training.
Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the control of infection.
PROFESSIONAL
Responsible for engaging in the Trust appraisal process, that identifies your own personal development and training needs.
Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act trust policy and good practice.
Responsible for reporting to the Haden helpdesk any medical and/or electrical equipment that need repairing and requires PAT testing, and keeping up to date records of reports, defects and follow up action.
Responsible for reporting any instances of Pest control to relevant Supervisor, Facilities/Hotel Services Manager/Ward Manager.
Responsible for answering telephones in the absence of nursing staff.
Responsible for safeguarding the welfare and safety of staff, patients, visitors and the public, by implementing all policies and procedures relating to security.
