Full job description
The post is based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The Radiology Department Assistants are fundamental to the smooth running of the department. This role is mainly to provide support to Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy. Radiology is a busy sub-specialty undertaking a wide range of examinations and this role provides the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art environment together with a friendly and dedicated team of staff. You will become a valued member of the department and work closely with the Radiographers, Sonographers and Consultants and also with the wider multidisciplinary team.
This is a new role to support the weekend service providing ultrasound scans to emergency patients and out patients.
The role will suit someone who likes to move around within a friendly department and is flexible. The varied role within the department keeps the job interesting and challenging.
Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable. You will assist in the care of the patients during their visit to the department. You will prepare for and assist Medical staff in performing procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, injections and drain insertions as well as other departmental duties to support the service.
You need to be able to work in a team environment and be able to work under pressure. The role requires good communication skills as in addition to interacting with a wide range of patients, you will also have to liaise with both clinical and non-clinical staff. Good telephone skills are essential as you must be able to take messages accurately to allow other staff to make decisions regarding prioritisation of workload.
In return, we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.
