Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative, dynamic and highly motivated Health, Care & Scientific Professional (HCSP) to lead research engagement, capacity and capability initiatives across the Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH) HCSP workforce.
RPH aspires to be a research-rich environment where high-quality research informs person-centred, safe and clinically effective care. The post holder will support HCSPs to develop the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to embed research and evidence-based practice within their roles, and to develop, lead and apply research that improves patient care and health outcomes.
The post holder will champion HCSP research, ensuring the contribution of HCSPs is visible, valued and supported across the Trust. They will also act as an ambassador for RPH research within the region and wider HCSP community.
RPH is committed to developing diverse and rewarding research careers for HCSPs, nurturing future research leaders and becoming recognised for its support of Clinical Academic Careers.
We are looking for someone who will embrace the opportunity to work across all areas of the Trust alongside the Research & Development Department.
The post is advertised as a 24-month full-time position; however, part-time and job-share arrangements will be considered.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The post holder will provide visible research leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of research activity across Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH). They will build regional and wider networks to identify and share best practice and act as an ambassador for Health, Care & Scientific Professional (HCSP) research.
They will lead the development of research capacity and capability across the RPH HCSP workforce, enabling innovative research that improves patient care. The post holder will deliver the vision and priorities of the Trust's HCSP Research Strategy and provide support to Nurses, Clinical Scientists, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals working within the research environment.
Working closely with the Research & Development Directorate and Chief Nurse Office, they will deliver programmes aligned with the NHS CNO England Professional Strategy 2026 and Research Matters Guide, under the strategic direction of the CNO Office Research Portfolio Lead.
The post holder will also be responsible for planning, developing and managing the Trust-wide 'New to Research' training programme, supporting HCSPs to build research skills, confidence and capability.
