South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at Bethlem Royal Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines within one of the UK's leading mental health trusts, providing specialist clinical pharmacy support to multidisciplinary teams and helping to optimise outcomes for patients with complex mental health needs.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical pharmacy input across inpatient services, supporting medicines optimisation, medicines safety, and quality improvement initiatives. You will have the opportunity to influence prescribing practice, deliver medicines-related training, participate in audits and service development projects, and contribute to the education and supervision of trainee and junior pharmacists.

What you can add:

Deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to designated inpatient wards, ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines in accordance with Trust policies, pharmacy procedures, national guidance, and legal requirements.
Provide specialist medicines advice to multidisciplinary teams, including support with complex medication-related issues such as high-dose antipsychotic prescribing, unlicensed medicines, drug interactions, and medicines monitoring.
Undertake medicines-related consultations with patients, supporting them to understand their treatment, maximise adherence, and address practical barriers to the optimal use of medicines.
Monitor patients for potential and actual adverse effects of medicines and contribute to the achievement of effective treatment outcomes.
Support discharge planning by ensuring timely medicines supply and liaising with community healthcare professionals where appropriate to facilitate continuity of care.
Contribute to medicines optimisation programmes, quality improvement initiatives, audits, research activities, and the implementation of Trust medicines management policies.
Prepare and deliver medicines-related education and training to healthcare professionals and act as a practice supervisor for trainee pharmacists and junior pharmacy staff.
Prescribe medicines within your scope of practice and in line with Trust policies where qualified as an Independent Prescriber.

What you'll need:

A Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent) and current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), supported by ongoing continuing professional development.
Significant post-registration experience in a patient-facing clinical pharmacist role within an NHS hospital setting.
Demonstrable experience working within mental health services, with a strong understanding of psychotropic medicines, associated monitoring requirements, and medicines optimisation principles.
Excellent clinical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to provide highly specialised medicines advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
Experience contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, audit activities, and the education and supervision of pharmacy staff.
Independent Prescriber qualification or a willingness to work towards this qualification would be advantageous.
