Overview
Be the welcoming face of Total Dental

At Total Dental we believe the patient journey starts long before they sit in the chair – it starts with you.

We’re a friendly, family-focused dental group with 4 practices across Leicester, providing a mix of NHS and private care. We’re now looking for an experienced Dental Receptionist to join our team and help us deliver a calm, organised and genuinely warm front-desk experience.

If you love people, enjoy being busy and take pride in running an efficient, professional reception, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties

You’ll be the first point of contact for our patients – in person, on the phone and online – and a key part of keeping the practice running smoothly. Your day will include:

· Greeting patients warmly and creating a positive first impression

· Managing appointment bookings, cancellations and reminders across multiple locations

· Handling patient enquiries – in person, by phone and by email – and directing them to the right person

· Maintaining accurate patient records and data entry on dental software systems

· Processing payments, issuing receipts and assisting with NHS and insurance claims

· Liaising with clinicians, nurses and the wider dental team to keep the day running on time

· Supporting patient experience by providing clear information on treatments, fees, membership plans and practice policies

· Ensuring compliance with confidentiality, data protection and infection-control standards at all times

Requirements

  • Previous office experience, ideally within a healthcare or dental setting
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks such as scheduling, data entry, and record keeping
  • Friendly, professional demeanour with a patient-centred approach
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of dental practice management software is advantageous but not essential

This role is ideal for organised individuals who enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and are committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

About you:

Essential

· Previous reception experience (around 1 year or more)

· Confident using computers and practice management software (or quick to learn)

· Excellent communication skills – clear, calm and professional on the phone and face to face

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and stay on top of detail

· Able to work well under pressure in a busy clinical environment

· Friendly, approachable and professional – you naturally put patients at ease

· Fluent in English, with good written skills for emails and letters

Desirable

· Experience in a mixed NHS/private dental setting

· Knowledge of dental terminology, treatments and common procedures

What we offer

· Stable, family-friendly hours: Monday–Friday, no late evenings or routine weekend work

· Supportive, professional team where reception is valued as a core part of the patient experience

· Structured induction and on-the-job training in our systems and processes

· Opportunities to work across multiple Leicester locations as the practice grows

· Ongoing training and development to help you build a longer-term career in dentistry
