We are a friendly 10,000 patient GP training practice located minutes away from Stockwell Tube station on the Victoria line and we are looking for a motivated, committed and enthusiastic full time GP Receptionist to join our amazing team at Binfield Road Surgery.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a professional, organised, and friendly GP Receptionist to join our team. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service both in person and over the telephone.
The role requires strong communication skills, multitasking, attention to detail, the ability to work in a busy environment, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

The key responsibilities for this post are set out below but it should be noted that this is not an exhaustive list and there may be other matters that should reasonably be asked of the Receptionist.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries.
  • Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the practice clinical system.
  • Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail, documents, and correspondence.
  • Handle confidential patient information in accordance with GDPR and practice policies.
  • Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
  • Process referrals, test requests, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Maintain reception and waiting areas to ensure a welcoming environment.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice and assist colleagues when needed.
  • Follow practice health and safety, safeguarding, and infection control procedures.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Education

  • Educated to GCSE level
  • High level of numeracy and literacy (spelling and comprehension)

Essential

  • At least 1-2 years' Receptionist / Customer Service / Administration experience in a similar environment, though training will be provided
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure and have strong organisational skills
  • Interest in working with people and in service of patients
  • Ability to work independently and have self-motivation
  • Solution-oriented

Desirable

  • NHS experience in a similar role
  • Experience using Emis Web
