Full job description

Job title: Parent Support Practitioner

Location: The Matthew Project - Norfolk

Starting salary: £16,982 per annum

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Contract: Part time - Permanent

This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to initiate and develop a parent support role within our youth services.

The Matthew Project is a value-driven charity working across Norfolk, supporting individuals and communities affected by drugs, alcohol, and mental health challenges.

We are recruiting for our Unity team, which is a partnership between The Matthew Project and Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new role for someone who is interested in developing a support service for parents/carers of young people affected by drug and alcohol use.

The Parent Support Practitioner will provide emotional and practical support to parents and carers who are concerned about their child’s substance use. The role will focus on empowering families with knowledge, strategies, and support networks to improve communication, strengthen family resilience, and reduce harm associated with substance use.

You will deliver both 1:1 support and group-based interventions, work collaboratively with partner agencies, and contribute to the development of accessible resources and services for parents and carers.

By supporting families at an early stage, the role aims to prevent escalation of difficulties, improve family resilience, and reduce the need for more intensive statutory interventions.

The role is based in Norwich, covering Norfolk. The ability to travel is essential.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience (not currently in treatment). The role will require the completion of an enhanced DBS process before starting.
