Full job description

We’re looking for caring and reliable Waking Nights staff to join our residential childcare team. This is an important role, making sure our homes remain safe and supportive for children and young people overnight.

Our children have often experienced trauma and may present with challenging behaviour. As part of the night team, you’ll provide reassurance, keep routines consistent, and ensure the home is calm and secure until morning. You will need to be comfortable with personal care.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervising and supporting children and young people throughout the night
  • Responding calmly and appropriately to any issues that arise
  • Keeping records and handing over to day staff
  • Working closely with colleagues to maintain a safe and nurturing environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people (residential care experience is a bonus but not essential)
  • A calm, compassionate approach, even in difficult situations
  • Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection (or willingness to learn)
  • You must already have the right to work in the UK — we cannot provide sponsorship

What We Offer

  • Hourly pay of £13.63 – £14.20
  • Overtime on public holidays
  • A full training package, plus the chance to gain formal qualifications if you don’t already have them
  • Loyalty and performance bonuses
  • Casual dress and on-site parking
  • A supportive team that wants you to succeed

Schedule

  • Waking night shifts 10pm-10:30am (12.5 hours) on a rota basis
  • Includes some weekends and bank holidays

If you’re passionate about making a difference and think you can provide a safe and supportive environment for children overnight, we’d love to hear from you.
